Regarding the March/April issue!

Hello readers! I apologize for the late posting of this, but due to a large volume of customer service emails I’m reminded that a notice was never sent out to our mailing list. The March/April issue of Digital Artist Magazine was canceled due to an emergency that arose in our editor, Terri Martin’s, personal life. When we switched the magazine to a bi-monthly publication we updated the subscriber database to keep track of subscriptions on a per issue basis rather than a date. This was to compensate for the frequent production issues that the magazine has. For instance, if you purchased a 6-issue subscription, you will receive 6 issues in total whether that’s over 12 months or 14 months. Previous subscribers had their remaining issues transferred using the same format, i.e. if you had 5 months left on your subscription it was updated to 5 issues. Our hope was that this would eliminate confusion going forward, as in the past we had offered extensions which left our subscribers unsure of when their subscriptions ended. The new format removes that ambiguity.

The May/June issue of Digital Artist Magazine is currently being worked on by our team of layout artists and our editor. We apologize for the lack of communication on our part – the intent was to send out a mailing to our entire mailing list and it simply fell through the cracks – no excuses! We’ll do our best in the future to ensure it doesn’t happen again.

NOTE: The staff at Digital Artist Magazine is aware that download speeds are slow during high traffic times. The download speeds are throttled by the site software in order to keep the site from crashing due to the large file sizes associated with each issue. At times, depending the volume of people downloading at one time, this can result in broken downloads or dropped connections. We want you to know that all .zip files have been tested prior to release and are complete. If your .zip file is corrupt or empty it was due to a problem during download and the only way to remedy the problem is to attempt to download again at another time.

The initial rush of downloads upon the release of a new issue is massive and those who choose to wait a few days after the release of the magazine typically have more consistent download success. To facilitate delayed downloads, all download links are now valid for 336 hours (14 days) after the date of your purchase. This should allow you enough time to download the entire magazine package by accessing your order under “Order History” while logged into the store. However if your 14 days expire please email our customer service department to have your download links reset. If you use a download plug-in in your browser that allows for the simultaneous download of several files at one time, bear in mind this typically results in a higher incidence of broken downloads. We recommend downloading no more than 1-2 files at one time depending on your download speeds through your service provider.

Let’s try this again!

We’ve opened the store back up with a HOPEFUL heart that a wonderful company in Omaha, NE has come up with a solution to our problem. All of your download links have been reset to add another 120 hours onto however much time was already remaining on your links. So everyone should have at least 120 hours, and some of you may have much more depending on when you bought your issue with respects to the store closing. :)

I have personally tested the store with a few people downloading simultaneously and the downloads were stable, the store did not crash, but I didn’t have 100 friends to help me out – so my test was really just a drop in the bucket. It may be tenuous, and if this solution doesn’t resolve the problem then unfortunately we’ll have to shut the store back down and try to find another solution! But we’re really hoping that doesn’t become the case.

Download speeds may be slow due to traffic, depending on how many of you return all at once. We’re going to monitor the stability of the store throughout the day.

Store Is Temporarily Closed

We apologize for the inconvenience, but an unforeseen problem with X-Cart and our large file downloads has caused an issue with our server. They have pinpointed the exact problem and we have a trouble ticket submitted with X-Cart in the hopes that there will be a simple programming solution.

All download links for items already purchased remain active for 120 hours (5 days) and we are hoping that the issue will be resolved within that time frame so that no one needs to have their download links reset.

However, should that need arise we will be able to individually reactivate your download links, extending them for another five days, once the store is up and running.

If you are on our mailing list we will send out an email once the problem has been resolved. If you are not on our email list, you can join it by submitting your email address at the top of our page.

Please bear with us during this time. We went to great lengths researching the switch to this new site and were told that our software and server were set up to specifically handle our publication and, unfortunately, that turned out to not be the case! But hopefully we will have this resolved quickly so that, going forward, there are no further download problems for our loyal readers.

Welcome to the new Digital Artist Magazine website! We are so excited to offer you a brand new quality service, particularly because it’s taken us so long to get here! Before we move on to what’s new, we would like to take the opportunity to apologize for the recent delay. Moving to a new server, installing our new services and configuring the site has not been without it’s difficulties which was unfortunately added to by real life issues. We cannot thank you enough for “rolling with us”, your support (especially those of you who emailed in) has been incredible and we truly appreciate all of you!

So, what’s new?

New issue: September 2009

The brand new September issue is now in store and it’s a super-inspiring read! Creatively-fabulous designers Kaye Winiecki, Nikki Beaudreau Designs and Holliewood Studios have created 3 kits, we’ve got a book review showcasing Claudine Hellmuth’s “Scrapbooker’s Creativity Kit”, a hybrid memory planner tutorial, vacation and wedding inspiration plus lots more! You can pick the magazine up in our new store or read on if you’re a subscriber…

H-H-Happy Birthday Digital Artist Magazine! This month (September) marks our 3rd anniversary and even though we’re late announcing it (gasp!) we’re not going to let it go by without a celebration! Join us for a week long Cupcake Fest starting Friday, October 2nd for fun and frolics with games, giveaways and some fabulous prizes!

Speaking of being late, we have an announcement to make. Instead of having an official release date, the magazine will now be released sometime between the beginning and end of each month to avoid any further disappointment. As the current issue is late, it would be unfair of us to set a release date for the October issue, especially as we have a month’s worth of work to catch up on and it would be impossible for us to reach any given target. We have decided to implement this now as we dislike letting you down and we hope you understand. We will be actively working towards an official release date in the future and we would like to thank you for your support and encouragement.

Before we leave you to kick your shoes off and make yourself at home, we’d like to apologize in advance for any 404 page errors you may encounter! The website is still a work in progress which we hope to have finished soon :)
